China's retail sales increase by 3.7% in December

Retail trade in China recorded a 3.7% yearly increase in December, higher than expected and up from last month's 3%, according to the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics published on Friday.

Catering increased by 5.3% on a yearly basis. Retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas rose by 3.4% year-on-year and retail sales of consumer goods in rural areas went up by 4.3%.

In the fourth quarter, the total retail sales of consumer goods went up by 3.8% percent.
