China's trade surplus rose to $72.35 billion in April, slightly below expectations, the country's General Administration of Customs said in its report published on Thursday.
Exports jumped by 1.5% compared to the same month in the previous year in dollar terms, reversing a sharp 7.5% decline. Meanwhile, imports went up by 8.4% year-on-year.
In local currency, the trade surplus came in at 513.45 billion yuan. Exports saw an annual increase of 5.1% and imports of 12.2%.
