Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his South Korean counterpart Cho Tae-yul (pictured) are set to meet in Beijing on Monday to discuss bilateral ties between the two countries and issues related to the Korean Peninsula, Yonhap reported.

Seoul is seeking to improve relations with Beijing which have cooled due to South Korea's "strong alignment" with the United States, according to the news agency. Cho has insisted on keeping stable ties with China ever since he became the foreign minister earlier this year.

The two officials are also expected to touch upon a trilateral summit with Japan which will most likely take place in Seoul at the end of May.
