China accuses US of economic 'bullying'

The Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Mao Ning (pictured) criticized on Monday the United States over what she described as its unilateral bullying of her country by limiting the latter's semiconductor exports.

"The US uses national security as a pretext to restrict chip exports to China, but in fact its relevant initiatives completely go beyond the boundaries of the concept of national security, so that the normal trade of ordinary civilian-use chips is significantly restricted," she stated at a press conference when asked about Washington's sanctions on a number of Chinese telecommunication companies.

"The actions of the US have seriously impacted the stability of the international production and supply chain, poisoned the atmosphere of international cooperation and fostered division and confrontation, and this self-serving approach is destined to lead to shooting itself in the foot," Mao concluded.
