The Chinese government announced on Friday that it will allow the testing of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) on the road in limited areas. The trials are limited to level 3 driving automation (conditional automatic driving) and level 4 driving automation (highly automatic driving).
"Through pilot work, we will guide intelligent connected car manufacturers and users to strengthen capacity building, promote the function and performance improvement of intelligent connected car products and iterative optimization of the industrial ecology while ensuring safety, and promote the intelligent connected car industry," the government said in a statement published on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
