The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on Ukraine and Russia on Monday to de-escalate the situation in the region following recently reported developments on the battlefield, urging both parties not to expand or escalate the fighting.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously confirmed that Ukrainian troops were fighting inside Russia days after its military was reported to have entered the Kursk region which is located along the Russia-Ukraine border.
"Ukraine is proving that it really knows how to restore justice and guarantees exactly the kind of pressure that is needed – pressure on the aggressor," Zelensky said in his evening address, noting that Kiev is awaiting approval from the United States, the United Kingdom, and France to use long-range capabilities.
