Mainland China registered its first case of infection with COVID-19 Omicron strain, reports by Tianjin Daily and China Central Television claimed on Monday.

The infected patient has been put into quarantine, the reports explained, adding that the person at hand is a traveler who returned from overseas to the city of Tianjin.

During the previous week, Sinovac Biotech Ltd. and China National Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., also known as Sinopharm, announced they have obtained the isolated strain sample, which allows them to adapt their respective COVID-19 vaccines to Omicron.
