Helsinki-based Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) announced on Monday that China has overtaken Germany as the biggest importer of Russian energy.
According to the report, exports of Russian fossil fuels to China are worth €12.6 billion, pushing down Germany to second place with €7.8 billion in energy purchases from Moscow. Since the start of the Ukrainian conflict, Russia received about €93 billion in revenue for the sale of oil, natural gas and coal.
Earlier this month, Germaný's Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) stated that the gas supply in the country is stable, while German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said in May that the gas situation in Germany is "manageable" as the energy can be supplied from other sources.
