Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China will provide Africa with 1 billion yuan (approximately $140.5 million) in military aid, reinforcing the growing partnership between the two regions.
The initiative announced in Beijing during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit (FOCAC) includes training 6,000 military personnel and 1,000 law enforcement officers, along with inviting 500 young military officers to China. Additionally, Xi said joint military exercises between China and African nations will be performed.
Beyond military support, Xi highlighted China's commitment to aiding Africa in modernizing through eco-friendly initiatives. He promised to establish 30 green energy projects and collaborate on a low-carbon transition. Xi underscored that efforts to expand the peaceful use of nuclear energy and a meteorological early-warning platform in the continent aim to rectify historical injustices and support the "new awakening" of Africa.
