The Chinese Foreign Ministry dismissed on Monday concerns raised by the United Kingdom over Beijing's alleged espionage. On Sunday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak discussed the matter with Chinese Premier Li Qiang following the arrest of two people suspected of spying on behalf of China.
"The so-called claim that China is conducting espionage activities against the UK is pure fabrication," ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press briefing. She said China "resolutely opposes" the allegations, urging the UK to "stop spreading disinformation and stop its anti-China political manipulation and malicious slander."
