China urges equal dialogue after Trump trade deal report

China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun reaffirmed Beijing's opposition to unilateral tariffs on Thursday, saying his country and the United States would have to approach any negotiations with an open mind.

In response to reports that United States President Donald Trump is considering a new trade deal with China that would include "substantial" investments, Jiakun stressed that both sides should "resolve their concerns" through dialogue and consultation based on equality and mutual respect. He once again underscored that Beijing will continue to take necessary measures to "resolutely safeguard" its legitimate rights and interests.
