China's Vice President Han Zheng asserted on Thursday that his country is open to expanding cooperation with the British financial sector to encourage the steady progress of bilateral economic and trade relations.
During his meeting with Lord Mayor of London Nicholas Lyons in Beijing, Han suggested that bilateral cooperation in the financial sector could serve as a new driver for practical cooperation. He argued that the momentum in the bilateral economic and trade cooperation is encouraging and holds substantial potential.
Last month, China's high-ranking diplomat Wang Yi said Beijing values its relations with the United Kingdom highly, appealing for increased cooperation. At the time, Wang urged the elimination of "interference" in their relationship, expressing hopes the two countries would "meet halfway" and maintain the positive momentum in relations.
