China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zhang Jun (pictured) stated on Friday during a UN Security Council meeting, that the deliveries of armaments to Ukraine are only aggravating the situation and could lead to further confrontation.

"The international community, especially countries that have a great influence on the current situation, should promote dialogue between Russia and Ukraine," the Chinese envoy said, explaining that imposing more sanctions and sending new military aid to Kiev could only "make the situation more difficult to resolve."

Meanwhile, talking about the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the Chinese official underlined that "all actions detrimental to the physical security" of the establishment "must be stopped."
