Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday that BRICS is not looking to target "any third party."
In response to a question on United States Presisdnet-elect Donald Trump's threat to target the group with 100% tariffs if it replaces the dollar, Lin stressed that BRICS is "an important platform for emerging markets and developing countries to cooperate" and insisted it "advocates openness and inclusiveness, win-win cooperation and non-confrontation."
Earlier, Russia responded to Trump's comments by saying the dollar is "beginning to lose its attractiveness as a reserve currency for a number of countries" and noting that many countries are gradually moving towards using their national currencies in international trade due to Washington's aggressive imposition of the dollar.
