Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin asserted on Friday that the door to dialogue with the United States is always open, confirming that the bilateral communications haven't stopped despite the increase in tensions.

Speaking to the press ahead of the visit by State Secretary Antony Blinken, Wang reiterated that the relations between Beijing and Washington must develop based on mutual respect and equality.

Wang's remarks come hours after National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said he doesn't expect a breakthrough during Blinken's visit over the upcoming weekend.
