Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui said on Friday that the risk of escalation of the war in Ukraine is still high. Li visited both Russia and Ukraine, as well as a number of European Union member states, earlier this month.
Li added that the two sides in the conflict have "vastly different" points of view and that China is making efforts to understand them instead of seeking a quick solution. He said neither Russia nor Ukraine has given up on the peace process but that the conflict is at a "critical juncture."
