China's Commerce Ministry (MOFCOM) announced on Thursday that it expects, based on the data collected so far, the country's trade volume to have reached its record high in 2022.
Speaking to reporters at a media briefing, the ministry's representatives also warned about what they described as the rising risk of a global recession that could negatively affect trade. They noted that such a development could lead to a decline in demand that would in turn cause a drop in the growth of foreign trade.
Earlier this week, China's ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui predicted that his country's easing of measures imposed to curb the new wave of COVID-19 will make a significant contribution to the recovery of the global economy.
