Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Thursday that the meeting between officials from China, Iran and Russia on Friday is Beijing's "latest diplomatic effort aimed at enhancing communication and coordination." She said China hopes the talks will lead to the resumption of dialogue and negotiations on nuclear weapons.
"China has consistently advocated for properly resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means, maintaining the international non-proliferation regime, and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East," Mao said.
