Chinese Commerce Ministry said on Monday that recent remarks made by the United States on the Asian country failing to fulfill its commitments to the World Trade Organization (WTO) are "false" and "distorted China's remarkable achievements in building a socialist market economy."
As a response to the 2022 Report on China's Fulfillment of its WTO Accession Commitments by the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the ministry said in a statement that it is the US that has violated WTO rules by using the "America First" slogan, "implemented unilateral trade bullying, formulated discriminatory industrial policies, disrupted global industrial and supply chains, seriously affected the international trade order, and harmed the common interests of WTO members. China and other members have expressed concerns on many occasions."
Last week, US Trade Representative Katherine Tai said that "China still embraces a state-led economic and trade approach that runs counter to the open, market-oriented principles endorsed by all members of the organization."
