Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning (pictured) stated on Monday that the United States is engaged in "technological bullying and trade protectionism."
A recent report by the Financial Times claimed that Washington asked the South Korean government to tell Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and SK Hynix Inc. not to boost their presence in the Chinese semiconductor market if Beijing decides to ban US-based Micron Technology Inc.
"It is a normal regulatory measure for relevant Chinese authorities to conduct cyber security reviews of network products that affect or may affect national security in accordance with laws and regulations," Mao explained the moves Beijing is making regarding Micron.
