China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao stated on Friday that Beijing hopes Washington will recognize the contribution his country makes to the United States and global economies and take the cooperation between the two nations to a more affirmative path.
In a video call with US-China Business Council (USCBC) President Craig Allen, Wang blamed "a series of trade and investment restrictive measures and protectionist practices" Washington imposed on Beijing for harming "the interests of businesses and people on both sides." He urged the US to take the two countries' commerce relations "back on track at an early date."
Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden's administration was reported to be planning a new executive order that would introduce tighter control on US nationals' investments in China.
