Chinese envoy: US must bear responsibility for Taiwan

Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin Gang said that Washington must "must bear full responsibility for the current situation across the Taiwan Straits."

The diplomat added that Beijing's actions bear Taiwan are "necessary and legitimate measures to deter separatist forces on the island, safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Earlier, China decided to conduct military exercises near Taiwan in response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to visit the island despite warnings from Beijing.
