United States banks Citigroup Inc. and the Goldman Sachs Group Inc., and British investment management company M&G PLC decided to restrict their employees' use of OpenAI's artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot ChatGPT, the Financial News London reported on Friday.
According to people familiar with the matter, Citi no longer allows its staff to access ChatGPT, while Goldman Sachs just limited its use. They thus joined JPMorgan Chase & Co., which also disabled the chatbot for its employees. The sources added the banks made such decisions as they both have policies about restricted use of third-party services and not because of any specific incident.
Meanwhile, M&G's spokesperson told the Financial News London that "ChatGPT is not an approved channel for business use within M&G and therefore it is prohibited for sensitive information to be shared via this channel."
