British Home Secretary James Cleverly managed to remain the Member of Parliament (MP) for Braintree after the general election held on Thursday, the results published on Friday showed.

The fact that Cleverly managed to keep the seat in his constituency had the media already begin to speculate about if he could succeed outgoing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as the Conservative Party's leader. Earlier, it was confirmed Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt also managed to reclaim victory in Godalming & Ash.

Meanwhile, a record of eleven ministers in Sunak's government lost their seats, including Defense Secretary Grant Shapps, and House of Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt.
