New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan stated during Monday's court session that he expects the closing arguments in the case against former United States President Donald Trump, in which he is charged with 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records, to be held on Tuesday, May 28.
"It's become apparent that we're not going to be able to sum up tomorrow," the judge said. "It was either have a long break now or have a long break then, and unfortunately, the calendar is what it is."
The initial schedule projected the closing arguments to be heard on Tuesday, May 21.
