Coinbase Global Inc. secured registration with the French markets regulator, CNBC reported on Thursday, citing a company spokesperson.
According to the source, the French securities regulator AMF granted Coinbase a virtual asset service provider (VASP) authorization, which gives the company permission to provide digital currency services in France.
This comes after the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rejected a rulemaking petition submitted by Coinbase Global Inc., requesting the SEC to "propose and adopt rules to regulate securities that are offered and traded through digital methods."
