Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez said the country is prepared to increase its energy supplies to replace shortages left by sanctions on Russian imports, imposed after Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine.
Duque told CNN Bogota will increase coal imports "immediately" if needed as it has "some of the biggest resources in the world," adding that his government is also prepared to raise its traditional oil and gas extraction as well as the exports of renewable energy, including clean hydrogen. "Can Colombia contribute to the solution? The response is yes," he concluded.
Commenting on United States President Joe Biden's use of the word "genocide" to describe Russia's operation, he agreed with his American counterpart, urging Moscow to cease its military activities in the region.
