The Council of Europe announced on Thursday that its Committee of Ministers has decided to suspend all its relations with Belarus over what it described as "the country's active participation in the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine."
The Committee also decided to cease all technical co-operation with Belarus. However, the Committee of Ministers decided to maintain and to enhance relations with the Belarusian civil society and the opposition in exile," the council said in a statement.
The Council of Europe previously stripped Russia of its membership over its military interventions in Ukraine. Moscow responded to the move by sending the institution its resignation letter.
