The Paris Court of Appeal announced on Tuesday that it would review Marine Le Pen's case, with a decision expected by the summer of 2026.
"The Paris Court of Appeal confirms that it has received three appeals today against the decision handed down on March 31, 2025, by the Paris Judicial Court in the case. It will examine this case within a timeframe that should allow it to render a decision in the summer of 2026," the court said.
This timeline suggests that a new trial could take place by early 2026, with a verdict well before the 2027 presidential election. Le Pen, a far-right leader who has previously run for the presidency in 2012, 2017, and 2022, is seeking a fourth bid. Her recent conviction for embezzlement appeared to bar her from running. However, the appeal process now leaves open the possibility of her candidacy depending on the final ruling.
