A new wildfire broke out in Angeles National Forest after a vehicle veered off the road near Big Tujunga Canyon, the forest's official page on X reported.
Named the Creek Fire, the blaze has a moderate spread rate, progressing more slowly than the recent California wildfires. The forest is closed until January 15 for public safety and to protect natural resources.
The death toll from Los Angeles-area fires rose to six after the Palisades Fire claimed the life of an unidentified individual, according to the City of Malibu. Malibu Mayor Doug Stewart expressed his "deepest condolences" to the victim's loved ones.
