Crowds are gathering across Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday ahead of a major protest demanding accountability for the deadly train station collapse in Novi Sad last November. The disaster killed 15 people and injured two, sparking nationwide outrage and months of demonstrations. University students led the march, with city residents joining in solidarity.
Heavy police forces in riot gear are stationed near the Serbian parliament and Nikola Pasic Square, with metal barriers set up around key locations. Pro-government supporters have also built a makeshift camp at the protest site.
Despite the loud atmosphere, the situation remains peaceful as groups of protesters make their way toward the main rally, set to begin at 4:00 pm CET, in front of the Serbian National Assembly.
