Cyberattacks have severely disrupted Iran's banking system, causing major internet outages and paralyzing services at ATMs across the country, NBC News reported on Tuesday, citing sources from its Tehran bureau.
According to an on-the-ground source, some machines are dispensing little or no cash, and debit card transactions are failing. Sepah Bank and Pasargad Bank are among the institutions affected, though efforts to fix the problems are underway.
These disruptions come as Iran experiences widespread internet instability, and Iranian authorities urged citizens to stop using location-based apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, citing fears of Israeli tracking.
