The governments of Syria and Iran have condemned on Monday the alleged Israeli air strike against Syria's T-4 airbase near Homs earlier today which has reportedly claimed the lives of at least 14 people. The Syrian Foreign Ministry claimed that the attack is Israel's response to anti-terrorism successes by the government in Damascus. According to a statement issued by the ministry after the attack, Syria will retain the right "to defend its population, territory and sovereignty by all available means, in line with the UN Charter and international law."
"The Israeli attack constitutes an indirect response to the success of the Syrian Arab Army in eliminating armed terrorist groups from the Damascus Damascus suburbs and other Syrian areas. These groups helped to kill the Syrian people, abduct civilians and use them as human shields," the ministry's statement reads.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry described the attack as an Israeli effort to divert the attention from the "tragedy in Gaza." Also, Iranian media reported that at least four Iranian nationals are among the people killed in the air strike.
