European Parliament President Roberta Metsola (pictured) commemorated the victims of Holodomor on the anniversary of the famine on Saturday. She voiced her support for Kiev and said that Ukrainians are now "once again fighting to preserve their lives, their identity and their freedom."
Metsola said the bloc "stands with Ukraine," and remembers "all those who were left to starve to death by the Soviet regime."
Her comments come after the Ukrainian government accused Moscow of using the same tactics used by Josef Stalin in the 1930s.
