Top Democrat leaders and close allies anticipate that US President Joe Biden will decide to exit the presidential race as soon as this weekend due to increasing pressure from party congressional leaders and confidants, Axios reported on Thursday
Biden, currently in isolation with COVID-19, has privately acknowledged the growing challenges in his candidacy that increased after the first debate against Former President Donald Trump. Key figures within the party, along with close friends and major donors, believe that Biden cannot secure a win, change public perception of his age and cognitive abilities, or maintain congressional majorities. Likewise, advisors warned that if Biden persists, Trump could achieve a landslide victory, jeopardizing Biden's legacy and the Democratic Party's future.
On Wednesday, an AP-NORC poll revealed that nearly two-thirds of Democrats suggest Biden should withdraw from the race.
