The United States Democratic Party is spending $27 million on ads targeting seats in the House of Representatives held by Republicans, NBC News first reported on Monday. Representatives serve two-year terms, with all House seats up for grabs in the November elections. Republicans currently hold a 220-212 majority.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DNCC) is expected to spend $8 million in Republican or swing districts of New York and $5 million in California, among other states. "We’re able to make these moves across the map thanks to the record-breaking fundraising we’ve had - driven by Leader Hakeem Jeffries and fueled by the historic numbers of individual donors this cycle," DNCC Executive Director Julie Merz told NBC News, adding that the Democrats are in a "strong position" to regain control of the House.
