EPA/ANGELIKA WARMUTH

The Disney Channel will stop broadcasting on Russian television from December 14, according to a report published by the Kommersant newspaper on Telegram. The paper said a new children's channel called 'Solntse' (Sun) will replace the Disney channel.

In light of Russia's involvement in the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Walt Disney Company said in March that it was halting business in Russia but that some channels would remain due to contractual clauses. Disney Channel first started broadcasting in Russia in 2010.
