DoJ appeals ruling on special master in Trump case

The United States Department of Justice (DoJ) filed a notice of appeal to Judge Aileen Cannon's ruling to grant former US President Donald Trump's request for a special master.

The appeal, which was filed at the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, claims that the "appointment of a special master is unnecessary and would significantly harm important governmental interests, including national security interests."

Earlier, Judge Cannon of the Southern District of Florida District Court ruled a special master should review the documents seized by the FBI from Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence to determine if they were under attorney-client privilege.
