Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, along with Representative Joaquin Castro, asked the Department of Justice to open a probe into Fox Corporation, Walt Disney Company's ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.'s joint venture to create a sports-focused streaming platform.
According to a letter sent to the DoJ, the officials are advocating for the prevention of this deal. The bundle, named Venu Sports, will be offered at a monthly subscription price of $42.99, accompanied by a seven-day free trial. It will provide users with access to major sporting events such as the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, NASCAR, golf, tennis, soccer, and the FIFA World Cup.
The companies announced their plans to offer a sports streaming service on February 6. The three enterprises will each share one-third ownership in the joint venture, slated to be launched in the fall.
