The United States Department of Justice revealed on Tuesday that it charged FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried with eight counts.

Counts in the indictment are related to wire fraud, commodities fraud and securities fraud, as well as conspiracy to commit money laundering, conspiracy to defraud the US and violate the campaign finance laws.

In a separate case unveiled today, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) accused Bankman-Fried of "orchestrating a massive, years-long fraud, diverting billions of dollars of the trading platform's customer funds for his own personal benefit and to help grow his crypto empire."
