News on the business front marked the day, with Facebook parent Meta Platforms confirming it wasn't considering leaving the European market amid the dispute with regulators over user data collection. However, Meta's stock still tumbled by an additional 2.10%, continuing sell-off.
The Dow Jones surged by 1.06% or 372 points, while the Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.21% or 175 points. Amgen's shares soared nearly 8% after Q4 earnings results. The S&P 500 gained 0.84% at the closing bell. The euro declined against the dollar by 0.17% at 3:57 pm ET to sell for 1.14190.
