The Dow Jones Industrial Average index surged over 150 points in premarket on Friday following a string of better-than-expected earnings figures by major United States financial firms and banks. The Dow's component companies JPMorgan and UnitedHealth both increased by over 2.5% ahead of the trading session and other banks, such as Wells Fargo and Citigroup seemingly surprised to the upside as well.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index jumped 0.45% or 157 points, the Nasdaq 100 was flat and the S&P 500 advanced 0.08% at 8:06 am ET.
The euro was flat in comparison to the dollar, going for 1.12249 at the same time.
