Dow soars 200 pts, pulled up by Boeing, Microsoft

Stock market indexes in New York rose on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average index surging over 200 points before slightly easing gains.

The Dow Jones increased 0.54% or 187 points at 1:33 pm ET, with Boeing, up over 5%, and Microsoft, up over 2%, leading the gains. The aircraft maker's stock received a boost to its rating to "buy" by Deutsche Bank earlier in the day, while the tech giant announced it will hire former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to run a "new advanced AI research team."

The Nasdaq 100 surged 1.11% and the S&P 500 rose by 0.67% at 1:34 am ET. The euro was 0.38% higher than the dollar, going for 1.09498 at 1:35 pm ET.
