Israel Defence Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff General Harzi Halevi said on Thursday that the Israeli army will enforce the ceasefire agreement between his country and Hezbollah "with fire" so that the displaced residents of northern Israel can return to their homes.

"This agreement is the result of months of fighting and, in particular, the last three months. A lot of achievements in Lebanon, intense work, very determined work, the killing of the entire senior echelon, the killing of all the commanders," Halevi said and noted that Hezbollah came to the ceasefire deal "from a place of lack of choice and weakness."

Halevi claimed that the displaced Israeli residents need their military to be "determined on enforcement," so that is why the Israeli forces will enforce the ceasefire deal "with fire, enforce it very, very strongly."
