Dutch investigators concluded on Wednesday that there are "strong indications" that Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized the delivery of the missile system that struck down the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in 2014.
The Public Prosecution Service's Joint Investigation Team said that Putin "made the decision about the provision of the Buk-TELAR [missile system] to separatists of the DPR [self-recognized Donetsk People's Republic." However, the investigators noted there was no "conclusive evidence" of the decision.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was a passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that was shot down by Russia-backed forces on July 17, 2014, while flying over disputed regions in eastern Ukraine.
