Europe opens mostly down ahead of US inflation data

Major European stock markets opened mostly lower on Thursday as investors awaited the report on consumer prices in the United States. Investors also anticipated the European Central Bank's Monetary Policy Meeting Accounts, which will be published later today.

The DAX decreased by 0.14%, and the Euro Stoxx 50 slipped by 0.12% at the opening bell, with Bayer AG falling by 6.79% on both indexes. At the same time, the CAC 40 was down by 0.21%, as Teleperformance SE lost 2.13%, while the FTSE 100 was flat at the open.

The euro and pound were flat against the dollar at 8:58 am CET, selling for $1.09379 and $1.30776, respectively.
