Member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council and De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) President Klaas Knot stated on Tuesday that the former institution's interest rates are unlikely to go down to "extremely low levels" seen before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the Dutch television program Nieuwsuur, Knot said the rates will "likely end up on a somewhat more natural level ... somewhere starting with a 2."
Commenting on the ECB's future monetary policy decisions, Knot remarked that he "would expect us to continue to gradually reduce interest rates in the coming time, also in the first half of 2025."
