Member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council and Bank of France Governor Francois Villeroy de Galhau told the Boursorama website in an interview on Friday that United States President Donald Trump was "wrong" for criticizing the work of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
Previously, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the Fed chief, saying that he is a "little too slow" with interest rate cuts. Meanwhile, Villeroy praised Powell's honesty, adding that the latter is doing his job "very well."
Talking about inflation, the ECB policymaker stated that the risks from trade tensions seem "weak" and could actually be on the downside.
