Member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council and National Bank of Belgium (NBB) Governor Pierre Wunsch stated on Wednesday that cutting interest rates four more times would be a "meaningful scenario," which he would be "relatively comfortable with."
"There is no appetite to change inflation target," he remarked, speaking at the Reuters' Global Market Forum. He went on to say that the ECB is likely to land with rates "somewhere around 2%."
Talking about currencies, Wunsch mentioned that should the euro hit parity against the dollar, "we wouldn't lose as much in terms of competitiveness."
