The European Central Bank shared in its January 2025 Consumer Expectations Survey on Friday that inflation expectations for the next 12 months stood at 2.6%, down from 2.8% registered in the December 2024 survey.
Meanwhile, three-year ahead inflation expectations remained unchanged in January at 2.4%. "Inflation expectations at the one-year and three-year horizons thus remained below the perceived past inflation rate. Uncertainty about inflation expectations over the next 12 months remained unchanged, for the sixth month in a row, at its lowest level since February 2022," the ECB added.
Consumer expectations for economic growth for the next 12 months improved from negative 1.3% in December 2024 to negative 1.1% in January. Expectations for the unemployment rate one year ahead declined from 10.5% in December 2024 to 10.4% in January.
